Micah Parsons said last week that he was going to begin preparing for the NFL Draft, and if one of the top pundits is correct that was probably a smart move.
And, the former Penn State All-American linebacker and Harrisburg native could be joining forces with another former Nittany Lions star.
ESPN’s Todd McShay released his first 2021 mock Wednesday morning and he projected Parsons to go sixth overall to the New York Giants.
McShay wrote that Parsons is “a future NFL star.”
“And while he still has some developing to do, I don’t need to see any more game action to tell me that,” McShay wrote. “He has a big frame, range, athleticism, and cover skills to make an impact in the middle of a struggling Giants’ defense. And when given the green light as a blitzer, his instincts and speed allow him to get home on the quarterback, a bonus for a Giants’ defense that was in the bottom third of the league in sacks last season (36). He’d be the first linebacker taken by Big Blue in the first round since Carl Banks was selected No. 3 in 1984.”

Parsons told PennLive last week that he felt better physically than he ever has, and noted that he weighed 250 pounds but looked closer to 230.
He spent the coronavirus lockdown working out in Harrisburg with trainer Lance Deane, and Deane raved about Parsons’ physical ability to PennLive earlier this week.
“I think that he was going to dominate,” Deane said. “Not that he didn’t dominate already, but seeing the work he put in and how he was looking, I think he was about to have a special season.”
“He is 250, but the way he’s moving … he’s like a defensive back with the footwork and he has the physicality of a defensive lineman.”
