Glendale is home to the Arizona Cardinals and Cardinals Nation members. It’s also home, truth be told, to plenty of fans of other NFL teams, too.
With the NFL season motoring into Week 5, here’s where to find spots around town at which other fan bases gather for the big games. If you’re heading out to meet up with fellow fans of a specific team, take caution that seating is limited these days due to coronavirus. As one of these spots told a customer entering the front doors during the first quarter last weekend only to find a full house and were turned away, “You might want to come back later. No one really leaves during the game.”
Where: Pullano’s Pizza & Wings, 13848 N. 51st Ave.
Mike and Bonnie Pullano started Pullano’s Pizza in 1979 in their original location in Phoenix before moving to Glendale in ’87.
The Bills Wild West Backers fan club, around since 1991, calls Pullano’s home. You can find the club on Facebook.
Pullano’s opens at 9 a.m. during football season.
Where: Bambinos Sports Grill, 3860 W. Happy Valley Road & Low Key Piano Bar, 6770 N. Sunrise Blvd., Suite G207
Not only do Colts fans have two Glendale hangouts on game day, both are listed on the team’s official website at colts.com/clubs/boosterclubs/find.
The Phoenix Colts Club calls Bambino’s home, while the 602 Colts Crew can be found at Low Key Piano Bar, in the Westgate Entertainment District.
LOS ANGELES RAMS
Where: Max’s Sports Bar, 6727 N. 47th Ave.
Rams Nation makes a point to watch together from Max’s, which claims to be the Glendale area’s first sports bar, having opened its doors in 1979. There’s also off-track betting on site.
NEW YORK JETS
Where: Tim Finnegan’s, 17045 N. 59th Ave.
The group from meetup.com/NY-Jets-Fans-in-Phoenix descends on Tim Finnegan’s on Jets game days. “Our servers wear JETS gear and are known as our ‘NY JETS FLIGHT ATTENDANTS,’” the group boasts.
SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS
Where: Desert Rose Pizza & Gastropub, 6729 N. 57th Drive
The Niner Empire Desert West fan club, established in 2014, calls Desert Rose in Historic Downtown Glendale its “home spot,” but club members have also gathered at McFadden’s Glendale, 9425 W. Coyotes Blvd., in Westgate. “If you’re not here, you’re not experiencing intensity,” the club says on its website. “Come join 200+ of your fellow, hardcore, 49ers fans.”
